El pasado viernes 14 de Octubre, 41 alumnos y alumnas de 1º y 2º de Bachillerato del IES Sierra Nevada, visitaron la Universidad de Almería para asistir a las VII Jornadas Indalmat así como visitar la exposición “Paseo matemático Al-Ándalus”.
La mañana comenzó con la participación, de algunos de ellos, en la séptima edición del concurso Indalmat, que cada año congrega a chicos y chicas de 4º de ESO así como de primero y segundo de Bachillerato de toda la provincia para la resolución de problemas de Matemáticas.
Tras el desarrollo de la prueba, hubo un breve descanso y en seguida comenzó la conferencia “El Espejismo de la mayoría” impartida por Eduardo Sáenz de Cabezón, profesor de la Universidad de la Rioja. A través de las hormigas y los grafos, el ponente nos explicó cómo, en ocasiones, podemos tener una visión muy deformada de la realidad si sólo pretendemos informarnos de la misma a través de las redes sociales. Al finalizar, algunos de los alumnos subieron a fotografiarse con él y a comprar alguno de sus libros.
Sin duda, una jornada muy interesante que esperamos repetir el próximo año.
Last Friday, October 14, 41 students from 1st and 2nd Bachillerato, visited the University of Almería to attend the VII Indalmat Conference and to visit the exhibition “Al-Andalus Mathematical Walk”.
The morning began with the participation, of some of them, in the seventh edition of the Indalmat contest, which every year gathers boys and girls from the 4th year of ESO as well as the first and second years of Bachillerato from the entire province to solve problems of Math.
After the development of the test, there was a short break and immediately began the conference “The Mirage of the majority” given by Eduardo Sáenz de Cabezón, professor at the University of La Rioja. Through ants and graphs, the speaker explained to us how, on occasions, we can have a very distorted vision of reality if we only intend to inform ourselves of it through social networks. At the end, some of the students went up to be photographed with him and to buy some of his books.
Without a doubt, a very interesting day that we hope to repeat next year.
